Abandonware simulation games - life sim / god game

In god games, players play a deity - or a supreme leader - acting in a simulation populated by different characters (including whole nations) controlled by artificial intelligence. Players can’t control the game’s units directly, but they can influence their actions via other means, for example by using divine powers. The most famous of all god games is Populous.
