Abandonware DOS title

The best abandonware strategy games

Retro gamers like myself think that the best PC games were published a long time ago, in the 80s and in the 90s. Some of you may remember these titles, but some of you are going to learn just now about the best abandonware games of all time.

Actually, some of these games are not abanoned at all and you can buy them on GOG or Steam, but I decided to include them anyway.

The games are ordered according to the votes cast by the users of Abandonware DOS.

Strategy

Games based on strategy allow for reasoning and planning of one’s moves and actions. The gameplay may be based on player’s turns (Turn-based Strategy) or it may be in real time (Real-Time Strategy, RTS). These games focus on strategy and tactics rather than action, sometimes with the addition of financial or logistic features.
