Freeware and liberated games

The ‘90s ended with virtually every leading small software house being taken over by bigger companies. A diversified market changed into a market populated only by a small number of big leading distributors. As a result, the vanished companies left their creations behind - what today we call ‘abandonware’.
Luckily, the rights of a small number of old games were kept by their respective developers who, over the years, decided with enlightened views to clear them of any copyright restraint (hence the term ‘liberate’).
