Deus Ex

Deus Ex is a critically acclaimed action role-playing video game developed by Ion Storm and published by Eidos Interactive. It was released in 2000 and was designed by Warren Spector, combining elements of first-person shooters, stealth games, and role-playing games. The game is set in a dystopian future where society is fraught with conspiracy theories, advanced technology, and social unrest.
The storyline of Deus Ex follows JC Denton, a nano-augmented agent working for the United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition (UNATCO) in a world where governments and corporations vie for control.

Deus Ex review

GameSpy: "Most people equate RPGs with the fantasy genre, but Deus Ex successfully twists the genre and brings RPG players a brand new playing experience. While it suffers from a few technical issues, what you shell out for the game is money well spent. You'll come away from Deus Ex with the sense that you could actually be a real anti-terrorist agent in UNATCO. Well, maybe. I wouldn't advise quitting your day job anytime soon - for now, stick with Deus Ex."

Collector's corner:

The Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition, which was released on May 8, 2001, contains the latest game updates and a software development kit, a separate soundtrack CD, and a page from a fictional newspaper featured prominently in Deus Ex titled The Midnight Sun, which recounts recent events in the game's world.
