----------------------SUPER MARIO KART-------------------------


way back in 1992 nintendo made an amazing game called Super Mario kart for the
Super Nintendo Entertainment System(SNES) it used characters from their populer
Mario platform games.
The game is basicaly a racing game but with a little bit of combat thrown in as
well.

----------------------speeds--------------------
The game has three modes
 5o cc
100 cc
150 cc

these increase the speed of the karts and in turn the dificulty

----------------------cups----------------------
the game also has three cups to race for
mushroom cup
flower cup
star cup
each cup is comprised of 5 tracks. you win points for your final position in the 
race. the character with the most total points at the end of all five tracks wins
the cup.
-----------------------Controls----------------
up Arrow    - accelerate
down Arrow  - reverse
left Arrow  - turn left
right Arrow - turn right
space       - use item
p Key       - take snapshot
Esc         - ends program from almost any location(gives no warning)
Enter       - make selection in menu

-----------------------items-------------------
to help you win these races their are difrent items you can pick up from hitting
the question mark boxes. these items are

banana skin - leave it behind you for someone to slip on
green shell - flys forward in a straight line, but beware of it rebounding(can also be dropped behind you)
red shell   - homes in on the person in front of you
mushroom    - gives you a speed boost
star        - makes you invincible for a short time
coins       - adds two coins two your total of coins

----------------------coins--------------------
when you bash into an opponent you lose a coin. if you dont have a coin then you spin out.
you will see coins around the tracks, riding into one will automatically pick it up and add
one coin to your total, you can also get coins from question mark boxes.

--------------difrences to the original----------------
the main thing is jumping, in the original you could do a little hop by pressing the L or R buttons
or you could get air off of little ramps, in one place jumping over the track entirely

because of the shadow I added to the kart jumping would have been hard to do in the time I had to finish
dont forget I didnt find out about this comp untill half way through. for most bits i just took the ramps out,
but for mario circuit 2 where you are supposed to jump the track I added a bridge.
because of the jumping problem the feather item had to go.

I also took out the lightning strike as i didnt want to be messing around with shrinking and squashing with
such a tight schedule.

There is no special cup because i didnt have time to make it.
also i have Boo as a character instead of donkey kong because I was finding him hard to model
