Roadwar 2000 is a 1987 DOS strategy game set in a post-apocalyptic America where civilization has collapsed and the roads are controlled by heavily armed gangs. Players command a convoy of vehicles, explore the wasteland, gather resources, recruit survivors, and fight rival groups. The game mixes strategic planning with tactical encounters, creating a world where fuel, equipment, and manpower are precious commodities. Traveling across the country is dangerous, but staying in one place is hardly safer. Roadwar 2000 captures the bleak atmosphere of post-apocalyptic fiction while giving players plenty of freedom to decide how their group survives. It is essentially a road trip where the attractions include abandoned cities, hostile raiders, and the constant possibility of running out of fuel. Tourism brochures for this particular America were presumably very difficult to produce.
