Rockford: The Arcade Game is a 1987 DOS adaptation of the classic Boulder Dash-style character, combining maze navigation, treasure collecting, falling rocks, and dangerous creatures. Players guide Rockford through underground environments where collecting gems is only half the problem. Digging in the wrong place can cause rocks to fall, traps can block the route, and enemies are always happy to take advantage of a careless move. The game rewards planning and quick thinking, particularly when several objects interact at once. Rockford has a cheerful appearance, but the caves themselves are anything but forgiving. The experience is wonderfully addictive because every level starts with the same simple goal: collect the treasure and escape. Naturally, this becomes considerably harder once the entire cave starts collapsing around you.
