This is a really weird game with some interesting character and equipment mechanics...but ultimately it's a mediocre puzzle platformer. At first you make characters, you choose race/class and age and spend points and it looks like an adventure RPG. Then there's this fascnating magic system where you enchant items by applying various planetary influences and have to learn how to create magic items of various type via very specific combinations of influences. It's very well done. But then you get to the "game" part of the game and again...it's just a mediocre puzzle platformer. I don't want to undersell it, it does have some interest stuff...but Sorcerian simply lacks staying power. You'll spend hours trying to figure out the magic system, but then quickly realize that it doesn't matter because there are only about half a dozen enchantments that matter, and once you have those nothing else matters, and leveling up is simply a matter of finding the right spot and putting a key on your keyboard to kill infinite monster spawns.
