Andromeda Conquest

Andromeda Conquest is an early space strategy game that gives players a galaxy to explore, planets to colonize and rival civilizations to worry about. Long before enormous modern 4X games became normal, titles like this were already experimenting with the basic ingredients: expansion, resource management, exploration and military conflict. The interface is necessarily primitive, but the underlying concept remains surprisingly recognizable. Players must decide where to establish colonies, how to use available resources and when to confront competing powers. There are no elaborate cinematic sequences to interrupt the action, which means the game gets straight to the important question of whether your tiny interstellar empire can survive. Its simplicity can be refreshing today. You get the strategic bones of a space empire without needing a weekend, three spreadsheets and a second monitor just to understand what is happening.
