Crazy Cars: Hit the Road is a deliberately old-fashioned arcade racing game that wastes very little time explaining itself. You get a car, a road, and plenty of opportunities to discover that traffic laws are apparently optional. The emphasis is on speed and quick reactions rather than detailed simulation, with straightforward controls that make it easy to pick up and play. The visuals have a cheerful retro quality, while the races themselves can become surprisingly hectic once the road fills with obstacles and rival traffic. It is not trying to reinvent the racing genre, and that is probably for the best. Instead, it delivers a simple dose of arcade driving with the sort of uncomplicated charm that reminds you when games could be understood in about thirty seconds.
