Deluxe Paint 1 is one of the landmark graphics programs of the early personal-computer era, particularly associated with the Amiga before its tools and ideas found wider influence. The DOS version belongs to a period when creating digital artwork meant working with limited resolutions, tiny colour palettes, and hardware that would now be considered hilariously underpowered. Yet Deluxe Paint made those restrictions feel surprisingly liberating. Users could draw, fill, manipulate colours, create patterns, and experiment with pixels in ways that turned the computer into a genuine creative instrument. It became especially important to game artists and digital illustrators, helping establish techniques that shaped the look of countless early computer games. The interface may seem primitive now, but there is a reason the name is remembered.
