Desperados

Desperados is a tactical western adventure that takes the familiar cowboy setting and replaces the usual run-and-gun chaos with careful planning. You control a small group of characters, each with different abilities, and success depends on using those talents intelligently. Charging into a settlement with guns blazing is certainly possible, but it tends to produce the sort of results that make the quickload key your best friend. Stealth, positioning, distractions, and timing are often more useful than sheer firepower. The western atmosphere is one of the game's biggest strengths, with dusty towns, hostile outposts, and plenty of characters who look like they have never had a pleasant conversation. Missions can be demanding, but completing a complicated plan without setting off an alarm is deeply satisfying. Desperados proves that the Old West works surprisingly well as a tactical playground, especially when patience is rewarded and heroics are optional.
