Fire King

Fire King is a fantasy adventure that throws the player into a world of danger, exploration, and supernatural trouble. The setting has the familiar ingredients of classic computer fantasy: mysterious locations, hostile creatures, useful objects, and a hero who apparently has far too much free time. Progress depends on exploring carefully, overcoming enemies, and working out how different parts of the world fit together. The presentation is firmly rooted in the early 1990s, so imagination does some of the work that modern graphics would normally handle. That is not necessarily a bad thing. Games from this period often left enough space for players to fill in the blanks themselves. Fire King has the straightforward charm of a fantasy adventure made before every corridor needed cinematic lighting and a dramatic orchestral soundtrack. It is an enjoyable reminder of how much atmosphere a handful of pixels and a good imagination can create.
