Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist

Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist is a humorous point-and-click adventure game from 1993 developed by Sierra On-Line and co-designed by Al Lowe (creator of Leisure Suit Larry) and Josh Mandel. Set in the Old West, Freddy Pharkas is a blend of comedy and Western tropes.
The game follows Freddy Pharkas, a former gunslinger who left his gun-slinging days behind. Seeking a quieter life, Freddy moves to the small town of Coarsegold, California, to become a pharmacist. However, he’s soon wrapped up in bizarre mysteries and schemes by a villainous tycoon intent on driving everyone out of town. Freddy must use his pharmacy skills to concoct solutions to save the day in a non-violent, unconventional way.

Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist review

Computer Gaming World (1993): "Lots of gamers were unsure whether Al Lowe would be able to top himself. After all, where can one go after creating a success like Leisure Suit Larry? The answer is now clear: one can go up. Freddy Pharkas contains more concentrated hilarity than any of the Leisure Suit Larry games, plus better puzzles, great music (one can sample any of a dozen compositions from the piano player in the saloon), art that calls to mind Don Martin's characters from Mad magazine, and even (just to put the cherry on top) a funny installation procedure and documentation that would be worth reading even if there were no game to go with it."

Retro gamer collector's corner:

On at least one box containing the CD-ROM version of the game, it states "Meet the Great-Great Grandpappy of Leisure Suit Larry!", referring to Zircon Jim Laffer who makes a (belated) appearance in the game.
