P47 Thunderbolt

P47 Thunderbolt is a 1990 side-scrolling shooter that puts players in the cockpit of the legendary Republic P-47 fighter aircraft during the Second World War. The mission is wonderfully uncomplicated: fly forward, dodge an alarming amount of enemy fire, and convince every hostile vehicle that remaining operational is no longer an option. The game delivers fast arcade action with satisfying power-ups and increasingly hectic battles across land and sea. It captures the spirit of classic shoot 'em ups where reflexes matter far more than lengthy strategic discussions. P47 Thunderbolt never pretends to be a realistic flight simulator, and that is entirely the point.
