SWIV 3D takes the classic overhead shooting action of SWIV and throws it into a three-dimensional environment. Released in 1996, it gives you a heavily armed vehicle and a battlefield packed with enemies, obstacles, explosions, and enough incoming fire to make the concept of personal space irrelevant. The 3D viewpoint adds a new dimension to the action, although it also means that knowing where you are going can sometimes be almost as important as knowing what you are shooting. The game moves at a brisk pace and encourages aggressive play, rewarding players who can keep their weapons working while avoiding the scenery. It is a very recognizable product of the mid-nineties, when developers were enthusiastically putting ā3Dā after everything they could find. SWIV 3D is chaotic, loud, and unapologetically arcade-like, with enough mayhem to keep trigger fingers busy.
