Trantor: The Last Stormtrooper

Trantor: The Last Stormtrooper is a tough little action game that drops you into a ruined city with one very straightforward job: survive. You play as a lone soldier wandering through hostile streets, dealing with mutants, robots, traps, and just about everything else that looks like it might have a bad attitude. The game mixes platforming with shooting and exploration, and its deliberately unforgiving design feels very much like a product of the late 1980s, when games were not especially interested in your emotional wellbeing. Ammunition is limited, enemies can be surprisingly nasty, and getting lost is practically part of the experience. Still, there is something satisfying about learning its layouts and gradually becoming better at staying alive. It is crude in places, but undeniably charming in that old-school, arcade-inspired way.
