Wrath of the Demon

Wrath of the Demon is a fantasy action game that clearly believes subtlety is overrated. You play a warrior battling through a hostile world packed with monsters, traps and enemies who seem determined to make your journey considerably shorter than planned. Combat is the main attraction, with swordplay requiring timing and a willingness to get close enough to things that probably should not be approached. The atmosphere is suitably dark and dramatic, while the artwork gives the game a distinctive late-1980s fantasy flavour. It can be unforgiving, particularly when enemies appear from awkward positions, but that is part of its old-school appeal. This is the sort of adventure where survival feels like an achievement and where finding a safe moment to breathe is almost as valuable as finding treasure.
