Rush'n Attack is a 1989 DOS adaptation of Konami's fast-paced side-scrolling action game, sending players into enemy territory armed with a knife and an impressive willingness to run toward danger. The gameplay is straightforward: move forward, defeat soldiers, avoid traps, and survive increasingly hectic encounters. Along the way, players can acquire additional weapons that make dealing with groups of enemies considerably easier. The action is quick and deliberately arcade-like, demanding good timing and constant attention. Rush'n Attack has that unmistakable late-1980s design philosophy in which enemies appear frequently and the safest strategy is often simply to keep moving. The title tells you almost everything you need to know. There is rushing, there is attacking, and there is very little time available for polite introductions. Subtle diplomacy has apparently been postponed until after the mission.
