Electronic Arts developed the DOS sports game Kings of the beach in 1988. Kings of the beach is currently abandonware, runs on DOS and can be played in a side view perspective in single player, multiplayer (same or split screen) modes. It's available for download.

An endearing feature of the game is the ability to 'argue' calls with the referee, which occasionally allows you to get a point overturned. However, if you argue too much, the referee may flag you with a red card and deduct a point!

During tournament mode, the game occasionally freezes for 10-15 seconds. It was revealed that this occurs only when an African American fan enters the stands. When the African American fan leaves (presumably because he/she is bored or offended), the game resumes.
