Tomahawk

Tomahawk is an early helicopter flight simulation that puts the player behind the controls of a military aircraft and expects them to take the job rather seriously. Navigation, weapons management and combat all play a role, with missions requiring more attention than simply pointing the helicopter toward the nearest enemy and pressing every button. The cockpit-style presentation gives the game a convincing military flavor for its era, while the limited technology leaves plenty of room for imagination. Flying can be demanding, particularly when the player is still learning how the aircraft behaves, but that challenge is part of the appeal. Tomahawk belongs to the generation of simulations that assumed players were willing to spend time learning the machine before expecting success. It may look primitive now, but it remains an interesting snapshot of how helicopter combat was recreated on early home computers.
