Abandonware DOS title

Aces of the deep

Ever wanted to experience the grim, claustrophobic life of a WWII submarine captain without leaving your desk? Aces of the Deep (1994, DOS) delivers that dream in spades — torpedoes, sonar, periscopes, and lots of tense waiting. It’s haunting, quiet, and deeply strategic, like chess played underwater with depth charges. If you’re into history and slow-burn tension, it’s a masterclass in underwater warfare — just don’t expect Michael Bay explosions.

Retro gamer collector's corner:

The game was re-released by Sierra On-Line for Windows in 1995 under the title Command:Aces of the deep. It updated the graphics to a higher resolution.

There is also an in-game manual that covers the development of the U-Boat, time-line based maps that show kill-to-lose ratios, and, on the CD-Rom version, video interviews with former German U-Boat captains.
