Alien Attack

Alien Attack wastes little time explaining that Earth is having a very bad day. The premise is exactly the sort of thing science-fiction games love: hostile aliens have arrived, and somebody has to stop them before the situation becomes considerably more unpleasant. The action focuses on shooting, movement and survival, with enemies providing a steady stream of trouble. Its design has the directness of an arcade-inspired game, meaning that you can understand the basic objective almost immediately. The real challenge comes from staying alive while the screen becomes increasingly busy. Graphics and sound are firmly rooted in the early 1990s, but there is something enjoyable about the uncomplicated formula. No diplomatic summit is required, no lengthy character development gets in the way and nobody asks you to understand alien politics. Just shoot first and worry about the paperwork later.
