Abandonware DOS title

Alone in the Dark 2

The sequel no one expected takes our trench-coated hero from gothic horror to gangster ghost story. Yes, Alone in the Dark 2 (1993, DOS) swaps Lovecraftian horror for Tommy guns and pirates - because why not? The combat’s a bit like slap-fighting with broomsticks, and the puzzles could drive a monk to madness, but the charm is in the chaos. It’s like someone mashed up The Untouchables with Ghostbusters and forgot to remove the eldritch dread. If you survive the controls and the story’s tonal whiplash, you might just have a great time.

Retro gamer collector's corner:

There were two DOS versions of the game, the floppy disk version and the CD-ROM version. While the floppy version was the original, the CD-ROM release added a full Red Book audio reworked soundtrack, dialogue speech (in English only) and a new playable section of Grace Saunders not present in the original version.
