Blind Wars

Imagine playing Risk without knowing how many armies your opponents have. That is the central idea behind Blind Wars, a turn-based strategy game from Soleau Software released in 1992. The objective is global domination, but there is a catch: enemy troop numbers remain hidden, forcing players to rely on guesswork, bluffing and a healthy amount of paranoia. The battlefield consists of 77 cities divided among ten countries, rather than the familiar world map of the board game that inspired it. Random events such as floods, volcanic eruptions and revolutions can also upset carefully planned campaigns. With three computer-controlled opponents in the shareware version, every move is a gamble. Sometimes ignorance really is a strategic advantage.
