California dreams released Blockout in the year 1989; it's an old puzzle game, part of the Tetris series. Blockout is abandonware, runs on DOS and can be played in single player mode. It's available for download.

The demo mode is not a pre-recorded game of an expert playing, but a well programmed bot that plays a good game in any given setup. The bot finds smaller pits and more complex block sets more difficult, and achieves correspondingly lower scores.
