Body Blows

Body Blows is a 2D fighting game developed and published by Team17, released in 1993. It was initially launched for the Amiga and later ported to MS-DOS. Body Blows was one of the few fighting games to emerge from Europe during the early 1990s and was heavily inspired by the success of games like Street Fighter II. Body Blows features traditional one-on-one combat where players select a character and fight against opponents in a series of matches. The gameplay consists of typical fighting game mechanics.

Body Blows reviews

Abandonware DOS - "Back when I was the proud owner of an Amiga 500, if you wanted to play good fighting games (and you didn't own a console) you had to seek out the nearest arcades and spend coin after coin trying to stay alive and learn every move of games like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter 2. Body Blows was the answer to the prayers of Amiga owners who wanted a fighting game for their computer. It seems like Team17 modeled Body Blows on Street Fighter 2: it plays in a similar way, the roster of colorful characters is quite varied and the graphics are not that different. Body Blows was converted for DOS and the sequel - Ultimate Body Blows - got converted too."

Computer and Video Games (1993): "The action is displayed in excellent 256 colour graphics, and Team 17 have been considerate enough to include keyboard controls for anybody who doesn't have a joystick. The controls are easy to get to grips with and the actions fast and fluid. In short, there isn't a better PC beat 'em up."

Retro gamer collector's corner:

In summer 1993, a few months after the game was released, Team17 published an updated version of the program disk for Amiga computers.
