Based on Piers Anthony’s pun-filled fantasy world, Companions of Xanth is like walking into a joke book that got lost in a spellbook. You play a guy from the "real world" sucked into Xanth, where every other sentence is a pun and logic took a long nap. The puzzles are silly, the humor groan-worthy (in a good way), and your companion might be a nymph, a golem, or a demon in disguise. If you like wordplay with your wizardry, welcome home.
This game is a never-ending stream of moon logic puzzles that you'll never figure out without looking them up in a guide. A lot of them are based on puns and idioms, but a lot of those are no longer in common use. Have you ever heard the experssion "beyond the pale?" Yeah, ok maybe you have. So obviously that means that when you see a bucket you have to put something on the far side of it, right? Because a bucket is a "pail" and OBVIOUSLY seeing a bucket inspires you to think of that obscure 17th century idiom.
That's the kind of stuff going on in thus game. Seriously, don't play this no matter how much you liked Piers Anthony's Xanth novels.
