Creatures 3 is the third major entry in the wonderfully eccentric Creatures series, released in 1999 and expanding the idea of artificial life into a much larger digital ecosystem. Instead of simply controlling a conventional character, players raise and interact with Norns, creatures that learn, reproduce and develop their own behaviors. You can teach them, look after them and generally attempt to prevent your virtual household from descending into complete chaos. The game feels part simulation, part experiment and part digital pet project, with enough unpredictability to keep things interesting. It is also one of those rare games where watching your creations make questionable decisions can be almost as entertaining as making decisions yourself.
