Released in 2000, Dark Reign 2 took the futuristic RTS series into full 3D territory. While other games were content with flashy visuals, this one focused on tactical depth and resource management. You control factions fighting over dwindling water supplies, which is depressingly relevant today. The 3D engine allowed for rotating battlefields and complex maps, giving players a real edge in planning ambushes. It didn’t quite dethrone the RTS giants of its era, but it carved out a respectable niche among players who liked their strategy served with grit and desperation.
