Divi-Dead

Divi-Dead is a Japanese visual novel and horror adventure from 1998, blending school life, mystery and some considerably darker material than its innocent-looking setting might suggest. The story follows a group of students whose ordinary lives become entangled with strange supernatural events, gradually turning familiar surroundings into something much less comfortable. As with many visual novels of the period, much of the experience comes from reading, making choices and piecing together the story rather than traditional action gameplay. Its atmosphere is decidedly unsettling, and the game has developed a certain notoriety among fans of obscure Japanese PC software. Definitely not the sort of school simulator where the biggest problem is forgetting your homework.
