Epic

Epic (1992, DOS) lives up to its name—or at least tries very, very hard. It’s a space combat game bursting with ambition, tossing you into dogfights that feel massive even though the polygons are just holding it together. The story embraces every sci-fi trope in existence, but with such earnest enthusiasm that you can’t help but smile. It’s the kind of game that wants you to feel like a hero, even if the cockpit looks like it was built from spare parts. Fast, loud, and proudly dramatic, it’s a vintage cosmic thrill ride.

The game received a budget re-release in 1994, on Ocean's Hit Squad label. In December 2019 the PC version of the game was re-released digitally, bundled with its sequel Inferno

An expansion pack for the game, Epic Extra Missions, was included on the cover disk for issue 47 of The One which was only issued for the game on the Amiga. The magazine suggested that other packs would be made available for the game, however there was no commercial release.
