If classic fantasy ever needed a designated clown, Eric the Unready would proudly volunteer. This 1993 adventure from Legend Entertainment gleefully demolishes every heroic trope it can find. Eric, the least qualified knight in the kingdom, sets off to rescue a princess despite being about as sharp as a wooden spoon. The writing is razor-witty, the puzzles cheerfully absurd, and the humor lands with that perfect blend of clever and stupid. It’s a parody that still feels fresh, mostly because Eric never stops being wonderfully incompetent.
