In Gold Rush!, the American dream is alive and well, provided you don’t mind a bit of hardship, questionable decision-making, and the occasional untimely demise. This adventure game drops you into the gold rush era, where every choice matters and not all of them are obvious. It’s a classic Sierra-style experience, complete with puzzles that can be both clever and infuriating. The historical setting adds depth, and the game does a good job of making you feel like you’re part of the journey—even when that journey ends because you forgot to pack something essential. It’s challenging, rewarding, and occasionally cruel in that uniquely retro way.
