In Extremis from 1993 is one of those lesser-known titles that surprises players with its ambition. Mixing action and strategy, it places you in dangerous situations where quick thinking matters as much as reflexes. The presentation is unapologetically early-90s, but there is charm in that roughness. It feels experimental, as though the developers were trying several ideas at once and decided all of them should stay. The result is uneven but memorable. Sometimes that is more valuable than polished mediocrity.
