By 1994, the Ishar series decided subtlety was overrated. Ishar 3 is bigger, bolder, and occasionally more confusing than its predecessors. Your party once again explores vast landscapes, but now you’re hopping through different dimensions, which sounds cooler than it actually plays. Still, the sense of scale is impressive, and the music and visuals do their best to drag you into its fantasy fever dream. The combat is still a bit of a finger-twister, and the NPCs are still ready to betray you if you so much as sneeze wrong. But for fans of the series, Ishar 3 was a suitably epic (and slightly chaotic) finale.
