Klax review

Computer and Video Games Issue 100 (February 1990): "The latest arcade puzzle game I played is Atari's Klax, a strange-looking but unbelievably addictive one or two-player life-matching game! Different coloured tiles advance towards you on a conveyor belt - all you've got to do is scoop them up with a mechanical shovel and flip them into a five-tile wide, five-tile deep bin at the bottom of the screen. If you drop the same three colours either on top of each other, side by side, or in a diagonal line, they disappear and points are awarded more complicated lines of colours such as four in a line, or v-shape patterns give hefty bonus points.
Sounds pretty dull on paper but once you start playing, it's very difficult to stop. There are many subtle intricacies, and some great twists in the gameplay on later levels."

Retro gamer collector's corner:

Klax is known for being the last game ever to be released on the Atari 2600 before the console was discontinued in early 1992.
