Lancelot (1988) is an action-adventure that draws loosely from Arthurian legend and very tightly from the difficulty school of “good luck.” You guide the famous knight through castles, forests, and enemy-filled screens, fighting and jumping with stiff but serviceable controls. The visuals are colorful, the music sparse, and the challenge relentless. Progress often comes through trial, error, and stubborn persistence. There’s a certain charm in its simplicity, though, and a clear sense of identity rooted in classic European game design. It’s not subtle, and it’s rarely forgiving, but it wears its old-school heart proudly. Fans of punishing retro action will feel right at home.
