Before cloud storage, USB drives and wireless file sharing made moving files between computers ridiculously easy, there was Laplink Pro. Released in 1991 by Traveling Software, this DOS utility was designed to transfer files between PCs, particularly laptops and desktop machines. It offered improved speed, convenience and functionality over its predecessors, with support for modem transfers as well. In an age when connecting two computers could feel like an engineering project, LapLink was a genuinely useful tool for getting the job done. It may not have involved shooting aliens or rescuing princesses, but for anyone carrying important files around, it was a rather valuable companion.
