Released in 1990, Lightspeed blends space simulation, exploration, and strategic resource management into an ambitious science fiction adventure. Players travel across distant star systems while balancing fuel, equipment, diplomacy, and combat against hostile forces. The enormous universe encourages exploration, rewarding curiosity with new discoveries and unexpected encounters. Its impressive scope was particularly remarkable for the era, offering players considerable freedom in shaping their journey. Naturally, navigating the galaxy becomes much easier once everyone stops accidentally flying toward unidentified alien fleets with excessive confidence.
Played this game a lot (a LOT) in the early nineties. Very curious whether I can get it to work on this day's hardware.
