Based on the Disney movie that taught us cats can sing, dance, and apparently navigate 1980s New York, Oliver & Company for DOS (1989) is a surprisingly earnest platformer. You guide Oliver the kitten through city streets, dodging hazards that range from busy traffic to the occasional suspiciously large rat. The controls are straightforward, the graphics are delightfully blocky, and the whole thing radiates Saturday-morning optimism. If you don’t smile at least once, you might be a dog person. It’s not groundbreaking, but it captures the cheerful chaos of its source material with enough charm to make you overlook its quirks.
