One-on-One Basketball

Before NBA 2K made your thumbs cry, there was One-on-One Basketball. You get to control either Larry Bird or Julius Erving in a thrilling display of 80s pixelated hoop dreams. The court looks like it was drawn with a ruler and three crayons, but somehow it works. The game includes such radical features as dribbling, shooting, and the subtle art of completely missing your shots thanks to confusing controls. Still, nothing beats the sound of a digitized crowd cheering as your chunky sprite dunks with the grace of a falling refrigerator. This is basketball in its most ancient digital form, and it’s oddly charming.
