Quarantine is a 1994 action game that takes the idea of driving through a dangerous city and removes almost every reassuring element of the experience. The player takes control of an armed vehicle and must navigate a hostile urban environment filled with enemies, obstacles, and enough chaos to make a normal traffic jam seem like a relaxing holiday. The game combines driving and combat, creating a world where getting from one place to another is considerably more complicated than simply following the road signs. Players must survive while completing objectives and dealing with threats that seem determined to turn every journey into a disaster. Quarantine has a distinctly dystopian atmosphere, with the city feeling more like a hostile battlefield than a place where anyone would willingly live. It is basically a road trip where the destination is danger and the traffic is shooting back.
This game is great! My kids and I enjoyed it on our 3DO.
