Quest for Glory 2: Trial by Fire continues the adventures of the aspiring hero introduced in the first game, sending the player to the exotic desert land of Shapeir. Released in 1990, it combines role-playing, exploration, combat, puzzles, and the series’ trademark humor. The desert setting provides a striking change of scenery, with new cultures, dangerous creatures, and challenges that require more than simply waving a sword at everything. Players can develop their character and approach problems according to their chosen abilities, creating a satisfying sense of progression. The game is full of fantasy adventure clichés, but it also enjoys making fun of them.
