Rambo 3 is a 1988 action game inspired by the popular film, putting players in the role of John Rambo during a dangerous military mission. The gameplay combines shooting, movement, and tactical decisions as players fight through hostile territory and attempt to complete objectives. The game captures the exaggerated action atmosphere of its source material, where one extremely determined soldier can apparently cause an impressive amount of trouble for an entire army. Players must react quickly and make good use of their weapons while navigating enemy positions. Rambo 3 is very much a product of its era, delivering straightforward action with a familiar movie hero at the center. It may not offer subtle diplomacy, but then again, diplomacy was never really Rambo's strongest skill.
Computer and Video Games (1989): "Film tie in weights things towards the production of very acceptable but dull games - the Toyota's of the industry. This is quite a major license, and an unembarassing game, but nobody will be talking about it in six months time. We'll have a Rambo IV then in any case."
