Rastan is Conan-the-Barbarian energy distilled into a side-scrolling adventure where your primary verb is “destroy.” The DOS port lacks a bit of arcade sparkle, but the spirit survives: brooding landscapes, mythic beasts, and a hero who solves every problem by swinging a sword bigger than a small canoe. The platforming can be stiff, and some enemies seem determined to ruin your day, but there’s a gritty charm to the whole affair. It’s a power fantasy from the era when protagonists wore fur briefs and refused to acknowledge the existence of indoor voices. Simple, brutish, and oddly satisfying.
