Realms of Chaos is a 1995 action platformer that combines fast-paced combat with a colorful fantasy world and a generous dose of old-school difficulty. Players choose between two characters and battle through levels filled with monsters, traps, platforms, and hidden areas. The game rewards exploration while maintaining a strong emphasis on action, giving players plenty of reasons to keep moving and experimenting. Its cartoon-like presentation gives the adventure a playful personality despite the large number of creatures trying to eliminate the hero. Realms of Chaos feels like a love letter to classic platform games, complete with secret passages and situations where one badly timed jump can ruin several minutes of progress. It is cheerful, chaotic, and occasionally cruel, which is pretty much the traditional recipe for a memorable 1990s platformer.
