What if Leisure Suit Larry and Monkey Island had a love child in outer space, raised by gender-swapped aliens? You’d get Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender-Bender, a hilarious, raunchy, surprisingly clever point-and-click adventure. Rex is your classic space schmuck—cocky, clueless, and perpetually one step from disaster. When his ship crashes, he discovers a planet ruled by women who, thanks to a strange device, can switch sexes at will. Expect witty dialogue, risqué humor, and some surprisingly solid puzzles. It’s mature without being crude, silly without being stupid. Definitely one of the weirder gems of DOS gaming.
I somehow missed Rex Nebular back in the day, which is a shame because this is exactly the kind of weird DOS adventure I enjoy. The humor is very much from its time, but that's also part of the charm.
