Robocop 3 is a 1992 DOS action game based on the third Robocop movie, expanding the familiar formula with shooting, platforming, and vehicle-based sequences. Players control the armored police cyborg through a series of missions involving criminals, hostile machines, and other threats to law and order. The game attempts to capture the variety of the film by moving beyond simple running and shooting, giving Robocop several different situations to handle. Its mixture of gameplay styles makes the experience more varied, although some sections can be demanding. Robocop 3 is unmistakably a product of the early 1990s, when movie licenses were expected to provide enough action to fill an entire game. Fortunately, the hero is built for difficult situations. After all, when ordinary police equipment fails, apparently the answer is always “add more armor.”
