Rockstar! is a 1989 DOS simulation that lets players experience the glamorous and occasionally ridiculous business of becoming a successful rock musician. Instead of simply performing songs, players must manage the many aspects of a musical career, including performances, finances, equipment, and public image. The game offers a playful look at the entertainment industry, where talent is only one part of becoming famous. Players have to make smart choices if they want their virtual band to survive long enough to reach the top. Rockstar! captures the fantasy of musical success while quietly reminding players that fame involves plenty of boring management work. It is a particularly appropriate simulation for anyone who has ever imagined becoming a rock star without considering the paperwork. Apparently even guitar heroes eventually have to worry about budgets.
Before windows, this is what you used to play at work ( well one of them)
